It happened. Wayne Simmonds will represent your Philadelphia Flyers at the 2017 All-Star Game held in Los Angeles on January 28-29. Simmonds is on pace to have yet another dominant season for the Orange and Black. He currently ranks no.1 on the team in goals (17) and third in points (32).
“I’m pretty shocked,” Simmonds said. “I think we have a lot of great players on this team and to be the guy chosen to represent the Flyers organization, it’s pretty special. There’s such a long list of All-Stars that play on this team and a lot of tradition, so it means a lot.”
He’ll be representing the Flyers in the city where he began his NHL career prior to being traded to Philadelphia.
“It’s pretty cool,” he said. “Jakey [Voracek] got to do it with Columbus being an All-Star there. This is my first time being an All-Star and to represent the Flyers in Los Angeles where I came from and originally played is pretty special for me.”
The Flyers will also have an All-Star trainer in Derek Settlemyre, who was selected to go to Los Angeles.
Flyers trainer Derek Settlemyre will be all-star trainer.
