Travis Konecny left practice with an injury after taking a shot to the foot

The injuries just keep coming.

Philadelphia Flyers forward Travis Konecny left Friday morning’s practice after taking a puck to the inside of his right foot.

Konecny immediately left the ice, but he did attempt to return. He returned for a very short period and left the ice again.

Already down James van Riemsdyk and Nolan Patrick, adding Travis Konecny to the list would be detrimental to this Flyers team.

Ron Hextall spoke after practice, but he did not have any update on Konecny. If there is an update on him, we could expect it later this evening or Saturday morning before the game.

Even if it’s nothing serious for Konecny, missing a game or two right now would be horrible timing. That would force the Flyers to call up someone from the Lehigh Valley Phantoms and be thin in the bottom six.

We could see Wayne Simmonds promoted to the second line if Konecny is out, leaving a hole in the bottom six. That would likely be filled by Michael Raffl or the call-up. Nicolas Aube-Kubel could be the man called up if Konecny can’t go.

Hopefully Konecny will be back on the ice on Saturday, but we’ll have to wait and see.
