It was an emotional evening inside the Wells Fargo Center as the Philadelphia Flyers honored Eric Lindros by retiring his number and raising it into the rafters. Fans of all ages, friends, and family all gathered to celebrate the man they call ‘Big E’.
The Flyers got out to a rough start following the ceremony and fell down 2-0 heading into the third period. Nolan Patrick and Wayne Simmonds led the comeback, while Michal Neuvirth made huge save after huge save to keep the Flyers within striking distance.
It would go to an overtime period, where Neuvirth’s early save led to a transition opportunity the other way. It would result in the eventual game-winner, which gave Neuvirth and Travis Konecny assists and Sean Couturier another thrilling goal.
