The Lehigh Valley Phantoms clinched a playoff berth earlier in the month, but had a chance to finish out their 2017-18 regular season with a victory. It took 60 minutes, plus overtime, and eventually a shootout to clinch this one, but the Phantoms pulled it off. Alex Lyon, who said he’s a ‘big fan’ of the shootout, dazzled once again in his final start before the playoffs.
The 104 points are the most by the Phantoms since the AHL switched from an 80-game schedule to a 76-game slate and are the most points produced by the team since the Philadelphia Phantoms tallied 105 points during the 1998-99 campaign. Lyon improved to 16-8-2 overall the season while Chris Conner scored his 17th goal to lift the Phantoms in this one.
