Sam Morin will make his season debut tonight for the Flyers

Big Sam is back.

Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Sam Morin will make his season debut on Wednesday night against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Morin missed most of each of the past two seasons with knee injuries.

Morin, 23, was drafted with the 11th overall pick in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. He made his NHL debut at the end of the 2016-17 season and also appeared in two games last year.

He has played in 167 AHL games over the course of his four-year professional career. He appeared in 150 games in his first two seasons, 2015-16 and 2016-17, before dealing with injuries in 2017-18.

He played in two conditioning games earlier this season, on Feb. 15 and 22, which was his first game action since suffering an injury in the Calder Cup Playoffs last year.

The big defenseman has shown promise and snarl both with the Phantoms and in his few games with the Flyers. He’ll get a good look here in the tail end of this season as the Flyers are all but eliminated from playoff contention.
