Morin had been out with an undisclosed injury for the last two weeks. He had originally be scheduled to be recalled by the Philadelphia Flyers, but due to what Ron Hextall described as a ‘nagging injury’, Morin sat out two weeks to get healthy.
It was described by Phantoms’ radio broadcaster Bob Rotruck that Morin’s eminent return to the lineup on Wednesday was a ‘sure thing’ and would be the defenseman’s first action since the end of October. With Mark Alt currently with the Flyers on their road trip, getting Morin back would be an upgrade for the Phantoms’ blue line as they continue their six-game road trip.
“Yeah, I’m really excited,” Morin said. “I’ve been out for five games now, I think. I can’t wait. I never get hurt [with the Phantoms] and it’s been like two years that I wasn’t hurt. So when you miss games, you realize how much you miss it.”
He was asked what it was like being a healthy scratch with the Flyers, then coming back down to play for the Phantoms before eventually sitting out for a few weeks with the injury.
“It was pretty hard at the beginning,” Morin said. “I was up there and I became aware of my injury. It was tough because I was thinking that I was going to get a chance to play. But at the end of the day, I know I’m going to get another shot and I’m really excited to get a chance to play [on Wednesday].
Morin said that when he was with the Flyers that his injury was something that was normal and that he was playing through. He called it a bruise and said that he thought it was a bruise. But when he went up to the Flyers, they discovered that it wasn’t. Morin said he’s a guy that plays through pain and that’s how the game is, but he never knew what the injury really was.
All in all, Morin is excited to get back into the lineup and knows that his play with the Phantoms will eventually lead to another chance with the Flyers.
“At the end of the day, it’s just adversity,” he said regarding his chance at almost playing with the Flyers. “My dream is to play in the NHL and if I play the way I was at the beginning of the season [with the Phantoms], I know I’m going to get another shot.
Morin will be a huge addition for the Phantoms this evening. You can listen to the rest of his interview with Bob Rotruck on Phantoms Radio Weekly on the Phantoms 365 app and on Flyers Radio 24/7.
