How Swede it is!
Lehigh Valley Phantoms forward Oskar Lindblom was snake-bitten offensively to start the season, but he has been picking it up recently. His hockey instincts were on full display as he picked up an assist and helped set up another goal in Wednesday night’s win, and he picked up two more points in Friday night’s victory
Lindblom scored a goal, added an assist, was a +1 and fired four shots on goal in the win. He was named the second star of the game for his efforts.
His first point of the night was an assist on the power play. After setting up Chris Conner for a one-timer in front with a nice pass, he corralled the puck behind the net again and sent it out in front to Danick Martel who whiffed on the one-timer, but buried a backhander.
Lindblom was just getting started.
15 seconds into the second period he made it a two-point night with his first goal of the season.
He crashed the net and redirected a cross-ice feed from Corban Knight into the back of the net.
It was all set up by a nice bank-pass by Philippe Myers, and a good job by Chris Conner to push the puck ahead.
Lindblom enjoyed the moment.
Lindblom was held off the scoresheet in his first six games, but picked up assists on Saturday and Wednesday before his two points last night.. He has one goal and three assists for four points in nine games this season while carrying a +2 rating.
The young forward was the best forward in the SHL last season, and played a strong two-way game in the preseason. He was sent down to the AHL to refine his game and work on his conditioning. It certainly looks like he is transitioning to the North American game well now as he is starting to heat up offensively.
Lindblom is probably still a bit away from getting called up to the NHL simply due to the Flyers’ depth at forward, but keep an eye on him if he continues to play well. It’s good to see him finally get on the scoresheet.
