The Lehigh Valley Phantoms hosted the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins to begin a tough week in the Atlantic Division, facing two division rivals on three nights. The Phantoms have played the Penguins well at the PPL Center and continued that stretch on Wednesday evening. They improved to 2-0-1 at home against the Penguins this season with an impressive 5-0 shutout in front of the home crowd.
Matt Read, Tyrell Goulbourne, Corban Knight and Mikhail Vorobyev helped the Phantoms with goals in the game. Oskar Lindblom lit the lamp, finally getting rewarded for all of his hard work recently. His goal came on a perfect depiction of his play of late – getting to the net and trying to make a play on the puck.
Knight skates down the boards and sees that Lindblom is driving to the net. He did this twice against the Hershey Bears last weekend, but couldn’t get anything to go. He made sure to deposit the puck into the back of the net on this one.
A Swede finish by Lindblom!
The Phantoms continue to climb up the Atlantic Division standings. They’ve been doing it with their more-experienced players contributing on the scoresheet. Having Lindblom finally get rewarded for his hard work could only begin the opening of the flood gates. Lindblom’s production with the Phantoms could begin to spark if he continues playing the way he does.
The Phantoms host the Hershey Bears on Friday before heading to Hershey on Saturday evening.
