Morgan Frost is back on his game.
The Philadelphia Flyers forward prospect led his Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds to a 4-0 win on Wednesday night. He was named the first star of the game with a goal and two assists.
The two teams were scoreless after one period, but Frost helped put an end to that in the second.
Frost found a puck out of a forest of legs in the slot and spun a cross-ice pass to Brett Jacklin, who buried the pass to open the scoring.
It was a great hockey IQ play by Frost to find the puck and know where Jacklin was headed out of the scramble.
He picked up another assist just under five minutes later on the power play. Frost provided support at the blue line to maintain possession, drifted down the boards with the puck, and threaded a cross-ice pass to start a tic-tac-toe goal.
Frost was looking towards the net the whole way and was still able to make the perfect pass.
Then in the third period it was Frost’s turn. He got the puck off the boards behind the net, circled out in front, and stickhandled before netting a shot in front.
A nice move by Frost for the goal.
Frost ended the night with a goal, two assists, a +2 rating, three shots on goal, and a 70% faceoff percentage (14 for 20).
Frost’s 20-game point streak was snapped a few weeks ago, but he’s back at it with a five-game point streak. He has 11 points (two goals, nine assists) during his streak, with a four-game multi-point streak (two goals, eight assists) as well. Frost has points in 25 of his last 26 games with 54 points (18 goals, 36 assists) in that span.
Frost retook the OHL scoring lead with his 80th, 81st, and 82nd points of the season, putting him two points ahead of Jordan Kyrou in second place. He still trails Kyrou by one assist for the lead, however, as Frost has 53 to Kyrou’s 54. His lead in plus-minus knows no bounds, though, as his whopping +53 rating is 14 better than his teammate Boris Katchouk who is in second with a +39 rating.
Frost is showing no signs of slowing down.
