Morgan Frost and the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds are still on fire.
After a 12-day break for the holidays, the Greyhounds resumed their schedule with a game in Saginaw against the Spirit. It took the Greyhounds until the second period to score, and the third period to comfortably pull away, but they came away with their 21st-straight win by a final score of 4-1.
Morgan Frost extended his point streak to 12 games with a goal in the win. He scored 5:55 into the final frame to put the Greyhounds up 3-0, which ended up being an insurance goal in the victory.
Frost picked up a loose puck, walked in, and fired a rocket into the back of the net.
What a blast.
Frost ended the game with just that lone goal, but he was a +1 with two shots on goal while winning 13 of the 21 faceoffs he took.
It’s now a 12-game point streak for Frost, who has nine goals and 19 assists for 28 points in that span. He also has points in 16 of his last 17 games, with a total of 35 points (13 goals, 22 assists) in that span. Frost missed one of the Greyhounds’ 21 wins, but during the win streak he has 41 points (15 goals, 26 assists) in 20 games.
Frost is now tied for 2nd in the OHL in points (56), is still 2nd in assists (36), is 6th in goals (20), and extended his plus-minus lead to +43. The next highest rated player in a +32.
Frost and the Greyhounds will be back in action tonight against the Flint Firebirds.
