Michal Neuvirth joins Phantoms on conditioning loan

The Philadelphian Flyers will likely get a familiar face back from injury very soon. Goaltender Michal Neuvirth was loaned to the team’s AHL affiliate Lehigh Valley Phantoms on a conditional loan, Wednesday morning.

Neuvirth is coming off a season where he finished with a 9-7-3 record with a 2.60 goals-against average and .915 save percentage. When he eventually returns, it looks like the Flyers could waive Calvin Pickard. But don’t rule out Ron Hextall keeping all three goaltenders on the roster. We’ve seen crazier things happen and given the injury history of Neuvirth, it may be a safety blanket.

Good news for the Flyers and Neuvy, however. Good to see him back on the ice.
