Matthew Strome fell down the draft board in late June, all the way to the fourth round where the Philadelphia Flyers grabbed him with the 106th overall pick. He’s looking better and better each game, and he had a fantastic night on Saturday against Ottawa.
Strome scored two goals, including one incredible lacrosse-style goal, added an assist, and took down an opponent in a great night for the forward.
After scoring a power-play goal and adding an assist within 10 seconds of each other in the third period, he scored what could be the goal of the year for his third point of the night.
Strome literally picked up the puck behind the net and balanced it on his blade to score a lacrosse-style goal.
What. A. Goal.
Earlier in the game Strome showed off his physical toughness with a takedown of Nikita Okhotyuk in a spirited bout. He completely dominated the fight.

He can beat you with his skill or with his hands.
Strome was named the second star of the game as he picked up three points (two goals, one assist) and a Gordie Howe Hat Trick.
Strome has been on fire for most of November. He has eight goals and nine assists for 17 points in his last 10 games. He is now over a point per game on the season with 24 points (13 goals, 11 assists) in 23 games.
The Flyers may have found a diamond in the rough with Strome, who showed off his full skillset on Saturday night.
