The Philadelphia Flyers ended their season with a first-round exit to the Pittsburgh Penguins in six games. It was a disappointing end to a rollercoaster season that saw a lot of growth from the young players on the team. The future is bright for the Flyers, and the team seems to know it.
One of those young players that took big strides this season is Ivan Provorov. Provorov did not miss a game this season, and even played in the final game of the season with a Grade 3 AC Sprain. “As long as my arm was attached to me, I was playing,” Provorov said in an emotional postgame interview.
You could tell that Provorov took the loss hard, but it was a good learning experience for him and the rest of the team. They got a taste of the playoffs, and now they want more.
“We’ll be back.”
Provorov knows that this was just the beginning of a long run of success for himself and the Flyers. He showed his heart all season long, but especially during Game 6 while he played through such a painful injury. Provorov will recover from that, get in his usual insane workout routine in July, and come back next year hungry for more.
The Flyers will be back and better than ever with Provorov leading the way on defense.
