Morgan Frost and the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds stole the show in Saturday night’s big OHL matchup, but Isaac Ratcliffe took home second star honors thanks to two great goals in close.
The big man showed off his soft hands down by the crease to give his team two big goals, but they couldn’t beat the Greyhounds.
Ratcliffe’s first goal tied the game at 1 in the 1st period. He positioned himself in the low slot, received a pass, and found the loose puck to jam it home.
Ratcliffe battled for the loose puck and lifted it over the sprawling netminder.
That goal showed off his ability to make plays around the crease, but his second goal was even better.
Ratcliffe gave his team a 3-2 lead late in the 2nd period with a highlight-reel goal. This time he received the pass on the left side of the net, spun to his backhand, and deked to lift a shot into the back of the net.
A nifty little move in close by Ratcliffe.
It was the second-straight two-goal game for Ratcliffe since returning from the holiday break. He has six goals and five assists for 11 points in his last nine games. He also has 18 points (10 goals, eight assists) in his last 15 games and 23 points (13 goals, 10 assists) in his last 18 games.
Ratcliffe has been picking it up after a relatively slow start to the season. He now has 32 points (18 goals, 14 assists) in 34 games on the year.
