Ron Hextall met with the media on Monday, and of course he was asked about the story of the weekend. When Radko Gudas knocked down Claude Giroux with a no-look punch on Friday it sent shockwaves not only to Giroux’s jaw, but through the Flyers fanbase as well.
Giroux said after the punch that “during the season I’m happy he’s on my team,” and Hextall chimed in on Monday.
“G’s probably glad he only gave him a little nudge, right?” Hextall said with a grin. “That’s Radko. That’s what you love about him so you can’t pick and choose.”
Radko doesn’t let up for anyone, just like he said after Friday’s game. “We love Radko because of the way he plays all the time, no matter who,” Hextall continued.
Whether it be punching teammates in the face during National competition, or fighting friends and old teammates, like he did this past November with J.T. Brown, Radko doesn’t let up.
“That’s the way he is and again that’s what we love about him.”
Gudas continued his physical play on Monday against Finland when he destroyed Mikko Rantanen with a hip check, and then scored a goal!
