Gritty receives 69% of the vote to be named best NHL mascot in NHLPA Player Poll

The Flyers won something!

The NHLPA released the results of their 2018-19 Players Poll on Wednesday, and one Philadelphia Flyers rookie dominated his category.

No, not Carter Hart — although he definitely deserves some recognition — but Gritty! Gritty received 69.4% of the vote to be named the best NHL team mascot. More than 500 players took part in the poll this year.

Gritty celebrated appropriately.

It didn’t take long for Gritty to win over Philadelphia. He took a shot at the Penguins mascot just hours after being unveiled.

And then he broke the internet.

From coming in like a wrecking ball.

To streaking at the Stadium Series.

Gritty gave the Flyers life in what turned out to be a rather disappointing season.

Gritty’s best friend, Claude Giroux, was also recognized for his trash talking.

Giroux received 4.8% of the vote in the “Who is the game’s best trash-talker?” category.

You have to think Travis Konecny will receive some votes next year.

The Flyers are looking for some bright spots in an otherwise disappointing season, and these are definitely a few of them. Gritty took the world by storm, Claude Giroux is still Claude Giroux, and Travis Konecny is an emerging legend.

What do you think?
