The friendly Flyer continues.
Philadelphia Flyers forwards Claude Giroux and Pierre-Edouard Bellemare went at it after a whistle in today’s game between Canada and France. Canada eventually came away victorious 3-2, but the two Flyers centers seemed to be having a heated exchange in the first period.
Bellemare took a few hacks at Canada goalie Chad Johnson and Giroux took exception.
The two went at it for a few seconds before the referee broke it up.
Claude eventually gave way, but he got the last laugh with Canada taking home the victory.
These two had a run-in in the past, perhaps there is dissension in the locker room?
It’s been an interesting World Championships so far for Claude Giroux, who first was knocked down with a no-look punch by Gudas, allowing him to admire him as a teammate, before having this exchange with Bellemare.
Canada will play Finland next week, we’ll have to see if anything happens between one of the Flyers and the mild-tempered Valtteri Filppula.
