The Philadelphia Flyers came into the final weekend of the season looking for growth from their young players and some moral victories. They got both of those things in Saturday afternoon’s win against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
The Flyers got things started early.
Pierre-Edouard Bellemare beat Sergei Bobrovsky with an absolute snipe!
Then Michael Del Zotto scored one of his own, which was challenged by Dave Hakstol after being waved off. Good goal, 2-0 Flyers!
The Blue Jackets got one back on the power play, though. Seth Jones’ shot bounced around and in.
The Flyers led 2-1 after one period of play.
The Flyers nearly scored in front, but they were denied.
Jake Voracek wasn’t denied though. He opened up Bob’s legs and slid it in five-hole.
What a move.
Claude Giroux moved into fourth all-time on the franchise list with his assist.
Travis Konecny had a near-chance, but he was tripped and the Flyers went on the power play.
Brandon Manning and Josh Anderson traded slashes before wrestling for a bit.
Ivan Provorov must’ve been inspired by Pierre-Edouard Bellemare as he sniped a goal himself!
What a shot!
It may have been deflected in front by Couturier, who had a savage celly.
Columbus got one back on the rush, another bouncing puck.
The Flyers led 4-2 after two periods of play.
Columbus nearly made it a 4-3 game, but Mason and the iron kept the puck out of the net.
Jordan Weal made a nice play in the neutral zone to start a 2-on-1, but Bob was up to task.
The Flyers held on to win 4-2!
Steve Mason’s 200th win!
