The Philadelphia Flyers were back on home ice on Sunday night to take on the Carolina Hurricanes. It hasn’t been a great stretch for the orange and black, but the young guns injected some excitement into our lives.
Steve Mason was ready to go after leaving Thursday’s game with cramping.
The teams traded chances early, but both goalies came up big.
Brayden Schenn didn’t exactly have his head in the game on this play.
The Flyers controlled play early, and it finally paid off. Sean Couturier stole the puck and then Ivan Provorov sniped a goal.
What a snipe!
And a celly to match.
The Flyers held a 1-0 lead after one period of play.
They continued their strong play in the second period.
Jordan Weal made a nice full-body stop.
Then Radko Gudas made a big hit.
And so did Matt Read, but the goalie is off limits.
Luckily the Flyers killed the penalty and got right back on offense.
Travis Konecny wheeled around the zone and got the puck in front, where Dale Weise deposited the rebound.
He was pumped up.
But the 2-0 lead was short lived.
The Hurricanes got a fluky goal off the end boards.
And another one just minutes later.
It was quickly a 2-2 game after two periods of play.
The Hurricanes went up 3-2 on the power play.
Wayne Simmonds was pissed.
But the Flyers came back in the final minute. Travis Konecny!
Then the boys finished it off in overtime.
A great drive to the net by Couturier was finished off by Brayden Schenn!
Winning is fun. Enjoy it boys.
