It happened again.
The Philadelphia Flyers played well against the Pittsburgh Penguins, but fell again in overtime.
Claude Giroux was praying for a win.
There he is!
Sean Couturier preps his beard for battle.
The second line created havoc in front of the net early after a Nolan Patrick steal, but it didn’t go.
Travis Konecny worked hard to draw a penalty.
But shortly into the Flyers power-play, Couturier was called for a penalty as well.
Sidney Crosby’s redirection went just wide.
Brian Elliott hugged the post to deny Jake Guentzel.
But Guentzel got the best of Elliott here.
Giroux blasted a cannon, but he missed wide.
Elliott stopped this one to keep the Flyers down just one.
The Flyers trailed 1-0 after one period of play.
They picked things up in the second period, though.
A great shot by Ghost to tie it at 1 on a 5-on-3 chance.
The Flyers were beating Matt Murray all period long, but rang it off iron.
First it was Nolan Patrick.
Then Ivan Provorov after a Jori Lehtera pass.
A greasy goal for Konecny!
Jake Voracek had a breakaway chance, but he lost an edge and collided with Murray, who was forced to leave the game.
Danick Martel joined the party and rang one off the iron as well.
Michael Raffl fed a great pass to Wayne Simmonds, but he couldn’t finish.
Sean Couturier could, though!
Provorov kept it at the line, got it to Giroux, and kicked it to Couturier for the goal!
Goal number 14 for number 14!
The Flyers led 3-1 after two periods of play.
But it wouldn’t last.
Patric Hornqvist drew a penalty with this dive.
Then scored on the power play.
39 seconds later, Bryan Rust scored on a breakaway.
Gostisbehere’s shot got blocked, leading to Rust’s goal.
MacDonald turned the puck over in the neutral zone, but Elliott bailed him out with a huge save to keep it tied at 3.
Michael Raffl saved the day…temporarily.
He stole the puck and powered past Phil Kessel for a gorgeous goal.
What. A. Move.
Kessel then set up Sidney Crosby in the slot, but Elliott flashed the leather.
The Penguins tied it up with over a minute left on a bounce in front.
The game headed to overtime.
Sidney Crosby won it on a deflection.
The Flyers have lost eight-straight games.
