Back in the win column, baby!
The Philadelphia Flyers took care of business on Saturday afternoon at the Wells Fargo Center. They played well against the Winnipeg Jets in an exciting sixty-minute effort that resulted in a 2-1 win.
Let’s get to it.
The smelling salts were out in full force for some afternoon hockey.
The Jets had an early chance, but Petr Mrazek recovered to cover up.
Mrazek made a great glove save on a Patrik Laine one-timer later in the period.
Travis Sanheim looked good in his return to the lineup. He showed off his offensive upside on this rush.
And then again on this stretch pass.
Oskar Lindblom took a stick to the face in a dangerous situation, but he was fine.
The Flyers and Jets were scoreless after one period of play.
The Flyers picked things up in the second period.
Ivan Provorov drew a tripping penalty.
Mrazk then came up big on a shorthanded odd-man rush.
Another great save by Mrazek.
Matt Read stole the puck for a chance, but he was denied.
The Flyers drew another penalty, but this time they didn’t need the power play.
Claude Giroux picked his corner through traffic on the delayed call.
What a snipe!
Celly hard, G.
Andrew MacDonald followed it up with a rebound goal!
It wasn’t called a goal on the ice, but after review it was clear that it crossed the line.
Mrazek continued stopping everything the Jets threw his way.
Travis Konecny got a bit feisty at the end of the period.
He laid out Laine.
The Flyers led 2-0 after two periods of play.
They didn’t make it easy on themselves in the third period.
Mrazek came up with another save in front.
Then Konecny took a tripping penalty.
And Patrik Laine scored his 40th of the season.
“Don’t mess this up.”
They weathered the storm in the rest of the period and hung on to win 2-1!
