The Philadelphia Flyers played host to the Montreal Canadiens on a day that the entire city celebrated the best team in the NFL, the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles. The Flyers were looking to extend their winning streak to two games and point streak to three.
Ivan Provorov was jamming out in the lockeroom.
This kid was feeling the air guitar.
And this fan was probably telling the Flyers that if they work hard enough, they’ll be parting like the Birds.
It was all about those parade day feels.
The Flyers had one golden scoring chance on Carey Price, but he had an answer for Jordan Weal.
The second period was much more eventful than the first. Travis Konecny got the Flyers on the board after a stellar heads-up play from Shayne Gostisbehere in the neutral zone to find Sean Couturier on the rush.
Couturier dropped a pass to Claude Giroux, who then threaded the needle to find Konecny.
What. A. Pass.
TK was feeling it!
Brian Elliott made a few big saves on the ensuing power play.
Then a clear was sent out of play, but the faceoff was moved out of the zone.
And it resulted in a turnover from Jake Voracek and an eventual Canadiens goal.
But Claude Giroux immediately responded with this huge snipe.
What a shot!
It had eyes and found its way through traffic and into the back of the net.
But at the end of the period, thanks to some atrocious attempts at clearing the zone, Shaw got the Canadiens back into the game with this shot.
It was tied at two at the end of two periods of play.
The third period started off with a bang. Jake Voracek got a pass from Claude Giroux and fired a shot off Carey Price and in the net. Voracek’s 11th goal of the season was the third assist of the game for Giroux.
What a shot!
Konecny got behind Price and tapped home the puck.
He was loving it and so are we.
Konecny then got into a little scuffle with Jonathan Drouin, but made sure that he stayed in his lane.
Then Brian Elliott tried to shut the door with this glove save.
And then this beauty of a grab!
But a bad penalty by Scott Laughton put the Flyers back on the penalty kill. Gallagher got positioning in front of the net, redirected the pass from Drouin, and made it a one-goal game.
Ivan Provorov would get the puck behind the net, fire it all the way down the ice, and puts home the clinching goal.
Brian Elliott got a ton of love from his team after the win.
And so did Travis Konecny.
The Flyers return to action on Saturday night as they face the Arizona Coyotes.
