After a thrilling 4-0 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins, the Philadelphia Flyers tried to fight for their playoff lives against the New Jersey Devils. And it started out great.
Then the Devils would score three-consecutive goals.
All of which were bad defensive breakdowns.
What a redirecSCHENN!
… and then the wheels fell off, badly.
The Flyers would lose Steve Mason to an apparent lower-body after a breakaway goal.
He would need to be helped off the ice.
He even got kicked in the chest before leaving. It was reported by Ron Hextall that Mason suffered cramps and will be reevaluated tomorrow.
The Devils would net two more goals to put things away. And frustrations would flare after the loss.
The Devils ended a 10-game losing streak. Flyers host the Hurricanes on Sunday night.
