All good things must come to an end.
The Philadelphia Flyers saw their winning streak and point streak come to an end on Thursday night in a 4-1 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes.
The top line combined for a great goal early in the third period, and Petr Mrazek made 31 saves, but it wasn’t enough in the loss.
Let’s get to it.
Taylor Leier celebrated his return to the lineup by taking an early penalty.
Ivan Provorov blocked a shot on the ensuing power play and went down in pain.
He stayed on the bench, however, and returned to the game. Warrior.
Unfortunately, Justin Williams scored as the penalty time expired to open the scoring.
Radko Gudas then pulled off a filthy dangle.
And Shayne Gostisbehere followed it up with a few moves of his own.
The Flyers trailed 1-0 after one period of play.
But Carolina struck again. Sebastian Aho fed Teuvo Teravainen in front for the goal.
They weren’t done there.
Justin Williams tipped home a point shot for his second of the game and a 3-0 lead.
The Flyers trailed 3-0 after two periods of play.
The Flyers found some life early in the 3rd period.
What a play.
The pass and finish.
Konecny got the crowd going.
But that was all they could get.
Sebastian Aho scored to make it 4-1 late in the period.
Petr Mrazek made one final great save.
And that was that. The Flyers lost, 4-1.
