Welcome to the Couturier family, German.
This won’t affect Rubtsov’s affiliation with the Philadelphia Flyers in any way, though it may help spark the young forward. Chicoutimi had been struggling, and Acadie-Bathurst is a place where Rubtsov can thrive.
An interesting tidbit in the trade is that the general manager of the Titan is none other than Sylvain Couturier. Yes, that is Sean Couturier’s father. Couturier took over as general manager in 2013 after his previous stint with the team in the 2000s.
The team was sold in 2013 and Couturier was appointed the next GM. It was sold to a group of investors that included a handful of former players. Among them are Roberto Luongo, Patrice Bergeron, and yes, Sean Couturier.
So Rubtsov was acquired by Sylvain Couturier in a team partially owned by both him and current Flyers first-line center Sean Couturier.
Rubtsov had 22 points in 16 games last season, and has 11 points in 11 games this season. He will likely make his Titan debut this weekend.
Good luck to Rubtsov in Acadie-Bathurst, and welcome to the Couturier clan!
