Kase is from the Czech Republic and spent the 2017-18 season in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) with Mora IK. Kase led his team as a 21-year old with 23 points in just 44 games. He had two more points than Mathias Brome, who played in eight more games.
He previously played in the Czech league for Pirati Chomutov, compiling 11 points in 62 games as a 19 and 20-year old. He did much better against his peers in the Czech2 league, with 21 points in 24 games over the course of two seasons. He also had three points in five games at last year’s World Junior Championships.
Kase has competed in three World Junior Championships for the Czech Republic and served as an alternate captain in his final two years (2016 & 2017). In total, Kase has competed in 14 World Junior Championship games for the Czech Republic.
Kase joins Oskar Lindblom and Felix Sandstrom as SHL alums that have signed with the Flyers in the past year.
Kase is expected to join the Lehigh Valley Phantoms next season. He could be another late-round pick to make some noise out of the SHL. Like Lindblom, Kase is a 5th-round pick (128th overall) from the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.
