Flyers hockey has arrived. The Philadelphia Flyers rookies will take on the New York Islanders rookies tonight at the Wells Fargo Center.
The Flyers roster is full of top prospects, and it should be an exciting night in South Philadelphia. Here are the line combinations via the Flyers.
That top line should be great to watch. Patrick is obviously the big name, but Connor Bunnaman has been quietly putting up goals in junior. Maksim Sushko will also get a chance to show off his skill with two more-experienced players.
The first line is good, but the second might be better. It features top prospect Oskar Lindblom, who should break camp with the club, along with German Rubtsov who is gearing up for a big junior season. Don’t sleep on Pascal Laberge either, who was a second-round pick last year.
The third line is full of true rookies. Isaac Ratcliffe, Morgan Frost, and Matthew Strome were three of the other forwards taken by the Flyers in this year’s draft. The first two are expected to develop well out of the gate, but Strome needs to tune up his skating.
The fourth line is pretty good as well, which speaks to the Flyers’ prospect depth. Carsen Twarynski is a lower-tier prospect at this point, but Mikhail Vorobyev is a name to watch in the AHL this season and Ivan Kosorenkov is looking to earn a contract.
Anthony Salinitri will filter in as the 13th forward.
The defensive pairings are just as impressive.
57 Travis Sanheim – 61 Philippe Myers
85 James de Haas – 77 Frank Hora
Morin is one of the oldest on the roster and praised the Flyers fans prior to the game. He should be able to set the tone alongside Mark Friedman, who gave up his senior year of NCAA eligibility to sign and play for the Phantoms.
Travis Sanheim and Philippe Myers will be incredibly exciting to watch. They are both top defensive prospects and already showed what they could do together last season. Here’s a reminder.

The third pair probably won’t play as much as the top two with de Haas and Hora being two lesser names.
The Flyers will stream the game live on their website, barring any technical issues.
Hockey is back. The Flyers are ready, are you?
