The Philadelphia Flyers have loaned forward Danick Martel to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. Martel was called up for his NHL debut last week and provided an immediate spark. He played four games with the Flyers, all with Nolan Patrick and Wayne Simmonds.
It’s a bit of a surprising move as Martel has been a young player to show promise in the past few games. Maybe this is a sign of things to come, or just a short stint with three days off. The Phantoms play tonight and Friday, so it’d be better for Martel to get into game action than stew with the Flyers.
Only time will tell, but right now this is a questionable decision. Dale Weise and Jori Lehtera don’t deserve to be in the lineup over Jordan Weal, Taylor Leier, or Danick Martel.
It was good to see Martel get a chance, and hopefully he’ll get another one before too long.
