The Rookie Game is back in Philadelphia!
After the Flyers rookies traveled up to New York last year to take on the Islanders rookies, the two will face-off in Philadelphia this September. The Philadelphia Flyers have announced that they will host the New York Islanders in a rookie game on September 13th.
Tickets and parking for the event will be free, but the tickets could go fast. The Flyers will be releasing them at 3:00 PM today, Tuesday, August 22nd, on PhiladelphiaFlyers.com.
Current stars like Claude Giroux and Shayne Gostisbehere have participated in past rookie games, as well as budding prospects Travis Sanheim and Sam Morin. Just last year both Ivan Provorov and Travis Konecny played in the 4-0 win.
The game will mark the end of rookie camp. The roster for rookie camp looks very similar to the development camp roster, with a few additions and losses. The full roster can be seen here.
Many of the prospects in the Flyers prospect pyramid are on the roster for the game. This includes Nolan Patrick, Oskar Lindblom, Travis Sanheim, Philippe Myers, Samuel Morin, German Rubtsov, Morgan Frost, Isaac Ratcliffe, and many more.
This game will mark the end of rookie camp and then full training camp will commence.
This will be your chance to see the Flyers of tomorrow, today. Hell, a handful of guys in this game should have a great chance of making the opening night roster.
Hockey is right around the corner. It’s so close you can almost taste it.
