You knew a change was coming after a game like Tuesday night’s.
After their ’embarrassing’ home opener, the Philadelphia Flyers have a few changes to their lineup. Calvin Pickard and his Gritty mask will be in net for the Flyers, and there will be a change up front as well.
Dale Weise will make his season debut, per the Flyers, while Jordan Weal will be a healthy scratch after one game on the third line.
Weal didn’t play well on Tuesday night, but then again almost no Flyers players did. He has been given multiple chances to prove himself after a strong end to the 2017 season, but he has yet to live up to that short stretch.
Weise will play on the fourth line, while Scott Laughton will move up to the third line.
Laughton was one of the few Flyers on the ice that showed some fight in the home opener and could bring some of that to the third line. He is also decent on faceoffs, where Mikhail Vorobyev has struggled, and help out there.
Hopefully a fourth line of Weise, Jori Lehtera, and Michael Raffl won’t see too much unnecessary playing time with the top two lines needing to get going. The second line had some chances on Tuesday night, as did the top line. They need to put one in the back of the net to get things rolling.
Here are the projected lines for tonight:
Claude Giroux – Sean Couturier – Jake Voracek
Oskar Lindblom – Nolan Patrick – Travis Konecny
Scott Laughton – Mikhail Vorobyev – Wayne Simmonds
Dale Weise – Jori Lehtera – Michael Raffl
Puck drop is set for 7:30 p.m. against the Senators.
