No love lost.
The Philadelphia Flyers took down the St. Louis Blues by a final score of 6-3 on Saturday afternoon. Captain Claude Giroux got right into it off the opening faceoff, taking down Brayden Schenn in his return to Philadelphia.
Schenn gave Giroux a little shot after a pre-faceoff conversation, and Giroux overpowered him and pushed him down to the ice after winning the opening faceoff.
Welcome back, Brayden.
It wasn’t planned by Giroux, nor did he think it was a “welcome back” moment. “Nah, he kind of gave me a shot. I gave a shot back and then he just fell. That’s pretty funny.”
The Flyers ended up getting the last laugh as they swept the two-game season series against the Blues. The top line (Giroux, 3; Couturier, 2; Konecny, 1) combined for six points in a big win.
They’ll get right back at it on Sunday afternoon with a 1:00 p.m. matchup against the Buffalo Sabres.
