Philadelphia Flyers top goaltending prospect Carter Hart continued racking up the awards earlier this week, and he showed why on Friday night. The Everett Silvertips goalie made 34 saves on 35 shots en route to a 2-1 win in Game 1 of the WHL Finals.
Hart stopped all 14 shots he faced in the 1st period, 11 of 12 in the 2nd period, and all 9 in the 3rd period to earn First Star honors in a 34-save effort.
The biggest stop of the game for Hart came late in the 3rd period. After a defensive zone turnover, Hart made a clutch glove stop on a shot from the slot with just under two minutes remaining.
Hart had to react to make a big glove save to bail out his teammates.
And he got the win.
Hart bounced back from back-to-back games giving up at least four goals with a great effort in Game 1 of the WHL Finals. He and the Everett Silvertips are just three wins away from the championship.
Game 2 is set for Saturday night at 9 p.m. in Swift Current.
