The goalie of the future might have more in common with the Flyers’ past than we originally thought.
Philadelphia Flyers goalie prospect Carter Hart is arguably the best goalie prospect in all of hockey. He had a historic season with the Everett Silvertips, and is now looking to continue that into the playoffs.
Hart was named the first star after making 33 saves on 34 shots in Everett’s 3-1 win to take a 2-1 series lead. However, it was his 10-minute misconduct that stuck out most on his stat line.
Hart channeled his inner Ron Hextall in the first period, earning him a 10-minute misconduct on the play.
About midway through the first period, Hart got into it with Austin Strand in front of the crease. He took exception to Strand’s aggressive play and let him know about it.
Hart gave Strand a good shove, which is apparently worth a 10-minute misconduct nowadays.
“He slashed me,” Hart said after the game. Sean Richards stepped in to defend Hart after the slash well, earning himself a double-minor in the process.
“I really appreciated that. It goes to show what a good teammate Sean Richards is. It showed how he’s not only a good teammate, but also a good friend,” Hart said.
It was a bit tame compared to some of Hexy’s actions back in the day, but it’s good to know that Hart has some heart in him.
Let’s check in on Ron Hextall’s reaction to Hart’s play.
Carter Hart and the Everett Silvertips will be back in action on Friday night in Seattle.
