Goalies are a special breed.
Not only is Philadelphia Flyers goalie prospect Carter Hart one of the best in the world, but he’s also full of superstitions to keep him on top of his game. Most goalies are weird to at least some extent, and Hart is no different.
Hart doesn’t want to know his stats, as he’s afraid it might get into his mind. He also will wait nearly two minutes to make sure he’s the last player off of the ice – even during intermissions.
During Canada’s 4-2 win against Finland on Tuesday evening, Hart’s superstition was revealed to the world. Take a look.
Whatever works for you, Carter.
It’s obviously working for him as he’s one of the top goalies in the CHL, leading the WHL in GAA (1.32), SV% (.961), and shutouts (5) through half the season. He made 29 saves on 31 shots in Canada’s 4-2 win in their opening game, with some help from a great goal line save by Cal Foote late in the 3rd period.
Carter Hart and Team Canada will get back at it on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. against Slovakia.
