Welcome to Philadelphia, Jay!
The Philadelphia Flyers have selected forward Jay O’Brien with the 19th pick in the 2018 NHL Draft. After drafting Joel Farabee 14th overall, Ron Hextall and Co. added another forward in O’Brien at 19th overall.
Throw on that jersey, Jay.
Born: November 4, 1999
Weight: 176 lbs
O’Brien was the top high school player in the country and is committed to Providence College for his collegiate career. He had 80 points (43 goals, 37 assists) in 30 games this season.
“He can skate and he’s got a motor,” said Tony Amonte, head coach of Thayer Academy. “It’s tough to play against him. If you take the puck away from him, he’s going to chop your leg off to get it back.”
